The Bi-Co News sincerely apologizes to Elizabeth Markham, last week’s Skeeter’s Pizza Athlete of the Week, for having failed to print the below caption.

Freshman track phenom Elizabeth Markham has taken Haverford by storm, breaking three Ford track records in her young college career. At the First Chance Meet in Alumni Field House last December, she set records in the 55 meter (7.5 seconds) and 200 meter (27.5 seconds) runs, and, on Saturday, she broke her own 200 meter record at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational with a blazing time of 26.8 seconds. Elizabeth also set a Haverford record in the 400 meter run

at the Terrier Classic two weeks ago with a time of 60.9 seconds.

In other words, she’s really good.

Skeeter’s Athletes: Kaley Klanica and Rachel Steward

Co-captains Kaley Klanica and Rachel Steward have led the Haverford women’s squash team all year from their positions at number one and number two, and, in the inaugural Seven Sisters Squash Championships hosted by Haverford Jan. 29-30, they led the team to a strong third place finish.

Owl Cafe Athlete: Masumi Iida

Senior captain Masumi Iida’s spectacular swims and outstanding leadership contributed to Bryn Mawr’s season-concluding three-win streak. Swimming against Beaver on Wednesday, she won the 200 IM and the 100 fly, and also helped the 200 Medley relay team bring home another first place finish. Saturday against Ursinus, Iida’s performance in the 400 Medley relay allowed Bryn Mawr to claim second place in that event, while her back-to-back swims in the 200 IM and 200 butterfly gave the team another first and second place. She also earned a personal best in the 200 IM with a time of 2:29.64.

Iida’s top-notch performance as no surprise. She has maintained this level of excellence throughout the entire season, meeting all of the expectations placed on her. She is now preparing to do the same Feb. 18-20 at the Centennial Conference Championships at Franklin and Marshall College. Congratulations Masumi, and good luck!
