Haverford 72, Ursinus 60

HAVERFORD (Feb. 1) - Senior forward Sarah Hanck scored 13 of her 15 points in the first half and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds to lead host Haverford (7-12, 4-5) to its first-ever season sweep of Ursinus (3-15, 0-9).

The Fords, who had never defeated the Bears in 28 tries until a 65-56 win in Collegeville on Dec. 7, went up at halftime, 31-21, and maintained a double-figure lead throughout the second half.

Haverford guard Sarah Chamovitz scored nine points in each half to share game-scoring honors (18 points) with fellow freshman Bridget Hussey of Ursinus, who hit 5-of-15 three-point attempts. Frosh Erin McCartney added 11 points for Haverford, which outrebounded its Centennial Conference opponent, 64-42.

Women’s Indoor Track

Terrier Classic

BOSTON (Jan. 29-30) - First-year runner Kristen Wilson (18:40.22) finished ninth overall and second among Division III entries to highlight Haverford women’s performances at the Boston University Terrier Classic Sunday.

Senior Deirdre Disney-Hoey won the fifth heat of the 55-meter hurdles (9.32) and finished one full second behind freshman teammate Elizabeth Markham (27.25), who placed seventh in the unseeded 200 dash. Markham (1:00.94) later produced an impressive fourth-place showing in the unseeded 400.

Senior Heidi Creel (8’10.25″) placed 20th in the pole vault, while her classmate and co-captain Ann Wanner (11:21.20) and frosh Courtney Fairbanks (11:23.15) were 29th and 30th, respectively, in the unseeded 3K.
