The Bryn Mawr track team is out and running with the arrival of warmer weather and lots of sunshine. After posting impressive times in the indoor meets, the team looks forward to the outdoor season and anticipates success.

Coach Dan Talbot has stressed team unity and hard work in order to prepare his team for a tough outdoor season in the Centennial Conference. Training without a track has been a disadvantage the Mawrters have had to overcome thus far and will continue to face, but they embrace the challenge and plan to use other training tactics that have so far prepared them well for races.

The sprinting core is led by Sarah Crown ’02, Katie Caldwell ’03, Christina Fetterhoff ’03, and Karen Miles ’00 who together also fanned the strong relay team that set the school record in the 4×200 meter race during the indoor season. Freshman Camille Agcaoil looked strong in the sprinting events as well, setting personal bests in the indoor season.

The team looks toward distance runners Kira Porton ’02, Elsa Heidron ’00 and Amy Dieterich ’02 to pave the way for some new personal bests and to score some points for the Mawrters.

In the field events, the season looks promising with newcoming freshman Nina Box ’03 dominating the high jump. Already Box has earned herself a first place title in this event at the Swarthmore Invitational in February.

After training hard the team is looking to post more personal bests and work its way to a respectable position in the Centennial Conference. You can catch the track team in action this Saturday at the Swarthmore Five Way meet.
