That’s right friends; it’s time to let us know exactly what you think of us. By now you’ve all received emails with links to your school-specific survey; if for some reason you need that link again, just shoot me an email and I can send it your way. As always, constructive criticism is the best criticism of all, but we’ll take whatever you throw our way.
You might be wondering what actually happens with these surveys after you send them off. Well, that’s a fun story. Basically, the Web Editor and I compile the results into two documents (one BMC results and one HC results), and we give them to every member of the Ed Board during our end-of-the semester dinner. It’s always an interesting thing to watch the comments get read.
Already, in the less than 24 hours since the surveys went out, I’ve discovered that one student on the Bryn Mawr campus would read the paper more often if “there were more articles about Andrea’s mom.” We get a lot of that kind of stuff, and it’s much appreciated. We also get abject rage, professions of love, and everything in between.
It’s a fitting way to end the semester, reading these surveys, because it reminds us that part of our goal in doing student journalism is being accountable for our product. We might not always love what you have to say about our work, but we do take responsibility, isolate at least a few things we know we can do better, and go from there.
So there you have it folks. Procrastinate on your work and take our survey!
