Goats and Bees Start the Indoor Season

The Haverford Men’s and Women’s track teams started the indoor season at the Alumni Field house for the 2009 Jack Pyrah Invitational on Saturday. They turned in 56 performances in total for Haverford.

Alongside Haverford, other schools at the meet included Temple, St. Joseph’s, Delaware, Penn, La Salle, and Franklin & Marshall.

Elias Tousley ’11 was the highest placing finisher for the Goats. His time of 8:47.03 grabbed second-place in the 3,000-meter run. Jake Koffer ’13 finished eighth overall with a time of 9:13.46.

Eric Arnold’s ‘12 fourth place time of 2:00.23 in the 800m run led the Goats. Lucas Fuentes ’11 (2:01.68) and Willie Xiang ’12 (2:03.37) both placed in the top eight. Ben Siqueiros ’12 (11th) and Michael Riccio ’13 (12th) recorded times of 2:04.18 and 2:04.24, respectively.

Ivo Milic-Strkalj ‘13 snagged a fourth place finish in the 1,000m run with his 2:34.37. Also, Alec Koffer ’13 placed ninth in the 500m dash with a time of 1:09.24.

Edward Oh ’12 led the Haverford pole vaulters, recording a height of 3.81m (12-06) for sixth place. Harrison Galloway ’13 and Andrew Wei ’10 tied for eighth with marks of 3.66m (12-00). Additionally, Senyo Agawu ’13 placed eighth in the triple jump (12.08m; 39-07.75).

On the women’s side, Mara Miller ’10 and Jackie Freund ’10 led the way for the Bees. Miller was fourth in the long jump (5.13m; 16-10) and fifth in the triple jump (10.43m; 34-02.75). Freund’s toss of 11.10m (36-05.00) in the shot put was good enough for fourth.

Three other Bees recorded top-ten finishes. Aileen Keogh ’10 placed seventh in the 1,000m run with a time of 3:15.47. Eliza Reiss ’10 and Emma Kornetsky ’13 were ninth and tenth respectively in the long jump.

\Next up for both track teams will be the Haverford Holiday Meet at the Alumni Field House on Saturday. Events will start at 5:30 p.m. The first away meet for Haverford will be the Gotham Cup, hosted by NYU on Jan. 15.
